The
Dyn Project is a pilot project working with men in Cardiff who have
experienced domestic abuse and is developing a specific service for gay,
bisexual and transgender men. The project will provide an advocacy and
safety planning service, including:
• Immediate safety measures.
• Access to an effective, direct and consistent range of support
services through a ‘one-stop-shop’.
• Joint working with other agencies.
• Information on criminal and civil options to increase safety.
• Provide advice on the collection of evidence should prosecution be an
option, a police officer is based within the unit who can advise on
this.
The project will is open from 10am - 4pm Monday - Wednesday, and 3pm -
9pm on a Thursday.
What is domestic abuse?
Domestic abuse is the misuse of power and the exercise of control by
one adult person over another adult, usually within the context of a
close personal relationship - usually this person is a partner or
ex-partner. Abuse can be physical, emotional, psychological, sexual
or financial.
People in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities
experience domestic violence in a similar proportion to the rest of the
population, and about one in four will experience domestic abuse across
their lifetime.
